Bulls Masters locked in for massive Cairns tour

The Queensland Bulls Masters will return to Cairns for the 2019 Great Barrier Reef Masters Games headlined by one of Australia's 100 National Living Treasures, Allan Border AO.

Approximately 2000 athletes are expected to take part in the 2019 Great Barrier Reef Masters Games which will be held in Cairns, May 23-26, 2019. After a highly entertaining and successful tour to Cairns for the 2017 Masters Games, the Bulls Masters are planning for a bigger and better tour in 2019.

Joining Border is an impressive roll call of cricketing royalty including Wicket Keeper of the Century Ian Healy, and dynamic former batsman Andrew Symonds. Recently retired Queensland Bull Luke Feldman will also make the journey north along with home grown product and former Queensland Captain and Australian player, Jimmy Maher.

Queensland Bulls Masters will take on the Mayor’s XI in a T20 exhibition match at the Walker Road Sporting Complex, Edmonton on Friday, 24 March.

Cairns Mayor Bob Manning said the match would be a major drawcard for the 2019 Great Barrier Reef Masters Games.

“Cricket is one of the biggest sports featuring in the 2019 Great Barrier Reef Masters Games and this match will provide an opportunity for locals and Games competitors to see some of Australia’s greatest cricketers of all time on our home turf,” Cr Manning said.

“It is being played at a time which will enable people to come along and watch after school and there will be plenty of opportunities for Masters Games participants to mingle with these sporting legends at social events during the Games.

“I am sure the Bulls will be out to turn the tables with the Mayor’s XI victorious in the 2017 Masters Games.”

The Bulls Masters also confirmed recently retired Queensland Firebirds and Australian Diamonds netball legend, Laura Geitz will join the tour for the gala luncheon as a speaking guest. Another special guest at the luncheon will be international renowned comedian Vince Sorrenti.

Former Queensland Maroons and Brisbane Broncos legend Andrew Gee will swap the rugby league ball for the leather and willow again in 2019.

The Bulls Masters will visit a number of schools and hospitals in the Cairns region as well as proudly supporting the Masters Games and local Charity COUCH.
