Sport Organisers EOI
Delivered by Cairns Regional Council on a biennial basis, the Great Barrier Reef Masters Games is a major multi-sport event held in Cairns and Tropical North Queensland. The Games attract more than 2,500 athletes, competing across a wide range of individual and team sports.
Becoming a Sports Organiser for the GBRMG provides a valuable opportunity to:
- Generate fundraising income for your organisation through sport registration fees
- Showcase and promote your sport and club to a broad audience
- Increase participation and visibility for your organisation beyond the Games
- Provide your members with the opportunity to compete against athletes from across Australia and overseas
- Strengthen organisational capability and volunteer experience through delivery of a major event

HOW TO BECOME A SPORTS ORGANISER?
Cairns Regional Council Invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) from sporting organisations, clubs, associations and governing bodies to deliver sporting competitions at the 2027 GBRMG.
Expressions of Interest for sports closed in April 2026, however we are still open to receiving late expressions of interest interested in being part of the 2027 sports program.
