The Games
Compete on the Reef
The Great Barrier Reef Masters Games was first held in Cairns, Queensland in 2013, and has since been held every second year. The 2019 were our biggest and best yet, and we now look forward to the fifth instalment to be held from 20 to 23 May 2021. Cairns is the ideal location to host the Games, being one of Australia's most popular holiday destinations with a myriad of local attractions, dining, adventure sports, reef activities and entertainment within close proximity to the city centre.
In 2019 over 2,000 masters-aged men and women from Australia, Oceania, USA, UK and South East Asia competed in 22 individual and team sports across the four days of competition with sports for all masters ages and interests. Early bird registration fees include a $69 Game fee, plus a sport fee per event. It is free for spectators to watch all the sports on offer.
Included in the registration fee is the highly anticipated social program held over three fantastic nights at The Jack in the CBD, with themed parties every night.
We had an amazing Super Early Bird prize on offer for participants (athletes and supporters) who registered and paid prior to midnight on 31 December 2020.
